The 2018 Family Learning Festival runs throughout October.

The Festival aims to inspire a love of learning in family life with events and activities run by national, local and community organisations. Organisers report that their local festivals are a creative and effective way to reach new family audiences, build new collaborations which support learn and raise the profile of their services among wide ranging benefits. This year, organisers are invited to run festivals on the theme 'Try it Here and Take it Home'.

Gurpreet Keila, the Fesitval's national co-ordinator at the Campaign for Learning explained more about the theme and how your organisation can use it:

"There's a huge diversity of great activities that organisers run during the Festival which give families a fantastic opportunity to try new things together. This year, our overarching theme 'Try it here and Take it home' promotes helping families to continue their adventures. Your organisation could do this by providing tools to families to continue learning at home. This could be an activity sheet to follow up on the event, a question for them to discuss together or quick tweet with the hashtag #takehometip"

Organisers looking for inspiration can visit the Family Learning Festival website which has interviews with organisers, resources and promotional materials and where you can sign up to get the latest national news on the Festival. The Festival's pinterest board has lots of activity ideas for organisers and for families too, from arts and crafts to financial literacy to getting digital.
