Immersive online experiences can deliver learning that engage and inspire audiences. Escape rooms boost communication, creativity and problem-solving skills. And could even provide a new source of income. If you've got to grips with Zoom and google is a doddle, find out how you can keep learners engaged and coming back for more. The workshop will be based on real-life case studies, activities and events delivered by Storycircles. Storycircles develop different ways of experiencing stories both online and in the real world.

The workshop provides attendees with:

  • an understanding of escape rooms and how they can be used to bring learning to life
  • an opportunity to explore tools to design, create and offer an escape room experience on a shoestring budget. Examples of additional tools that can be purchased to enhance the experience will be shared.
  • techniques to bring your escape room to life by weaving in storytelling techniques
  • an understanding of how to build flow through timing, puzzles  and narrative
  • ideas on how to maximise sessions so they link with your other curriculum areas or collections
  • the confidence to adapt your story sessions for a range of ages from families with toddlers to teens
  • a demonstration of creating a basic escape room

Workshop Facilitators

Marion and Richard began to work in partnership to create storytelling events and experiences during lockdown and founded Storycircle.

Richard has been a storyteller all his life but professionally since 1998! Since 2000 Richard has specialised in work with community groups linking cultural experiences with story sharing. 

Marion is a games addict and Event, Development and Innovation Officer at Kingston Library, Marion Tessier. She trained as a librarian in France and where she worked as a specialist board game and video librarian. She has experimented with augmented reality, virtual reality, interactive objects, live games and interactive events.
