Your organisation is invited to feed families curiosity and imagination and hold special activities for the Family Learning Festival - 14th to 29th October 2017.

The Festival is the biggest festival celebrating and valuing learning as a family. It aims to inspire a love of learning in family life. Libraries, schools, museums, galleries and community centres are just some of the venues that will be opening their doors to family members of all ages. Families will be able to try something new, find new passions and interests and learn from each other, from telling captivating stories to building rockets.

The Campaign for Learning, which organises the Festival, believe that learning that happens in family life should be as valued as learning that happens in the classroom and formal education. The Festival promotes opportunities for family members to learn together because of the many benefits this has for both children and adults.

For 2017, the Campaign is inviting organisers to hold intergenerational events and activities of all sizes from pop-in tasters to partnership events that run throughout the Festival.

The ethos is fun, informal and inclusive so everyone - children, mums, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, carers and friends feel welcome.

If your organisation is interested in taking part, visit the dedicated Family Learning Festival website at www.familylearningfestival.com

As well as resources and activity ideas based on this year's theme 'start your adventure', you can find inspiration from other organisations, such as Wiltshire Council. They are running lots of community-based activities including archery, a showbox theatre session and story reading.

Juliette Collier, National Director, Campaign for Learning said:
The Family Learning Festival flies the flag for learning as a family and we hope even more organisations will take part in 2017 and deliver brilliant and inspiring activities. Our families help us develop important life skills and understanding, and support us to develop the abilities and attitudes to become confident, motivated lifelong learners.

The Festival is a time to celebrate and value family learning and what we learn from each other, and a great opportunity to start new learning adventures together.
