A linguist by background, Kim has worked in communications for several Government Departments since 2007. She previously worked in research for Action Planning and later for the Central Office of Information. She was Director of Communications at the former Department for Innovation, Universities and skills (now part of the Department for Education) and Head of Corporate Communications at the Department for Energy and Climate Change. Kim was also Head of Communications at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Before she retired, Kim was the Director of External Affairs at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors until 2016.

Kim brings skills in strategic communications and marketing, management of national communication campaigns, partnership and stakeholder management, budget management and business planning to the Board.
