Charles Clarke at LAW day reception

Inspiring workplace learning for all

Learning at Work Day this year was bigger and better than ever. Thousands of enlightened employers up and down the country seized the opportunity to put on taster learning sessions in the workplace, to involve staff in passing their skills and expertise on to others, to arrange job swaps with outside organisations and to organise job shadowing to help people learn more about what their colleagues do.

We were delighted by the enthusiasm and energy displayed by everyone from Education Secretary Charles Clarke, who in launching Learning at Work Day described the Campaign for Learning as 'a genuinely noble campaign that is important to the vitality of the nation', to more than a million people who threw themselves into workplace learning activities. On past experience, many of those people will go on to continue their learning throughout the year and that's good for them, good for their employers and good for Britain.
