Think global - act local: building sustainable family learning networks
'Think global - act local', that's the message to family learning practitioners throughout the country. A project run by the National Family Learning Network (NFLN) and funded by the Learning and Skills Council aims to build on the work of the growing number of local and regional family learning groups.

Juliette Collier, NFLN Manager at the Campaign for Learning explains, 'Local networks can provide excellent support for practitioners, disseminate information and act as a link to the National Network. Many groups have become coherent structures with clear objectives and an active membership. Our project will ensure that common issues are not being resolved in isolation'.

Practitioners are currently being asked about their links to networks. Many have already indicated they would welcome support to strengthen local and regional groups.
It is hoped to provide tailor-made training packages during the next year.
