Overview
Family Learning
Families are diverse places where we learn some of our most fundamental values and attitudes. Family Learning has a significant impact in raising achievement and breaking cycles of disengagement with learning. Thousands of providers across the country are delivering Family Learning to over 5 million families each year.
The policy context for this work demands a multi-agency approach. Families come with a whole range of needs that cannot be met by one agency or one provider. In response to this Campaign for Learning and Parenting UK have formed a strategic alliance that brings together Family Learning practitioners through the National Family Learning Network and those working with parents through the Parenting UK contacts.
Working with Parents
Parenting education and support encompasses a diverse range of learning opportunities and supportive activities. It enables parents, prospective parents and those in a parenting role to improve their understanding of their own and their children's personal, social, emotional, intellectual and physical needs and the context in which family life takes place. This increases parents’ confidence and leads them to want opportunities for further learning, as well as enhancing family life.
