Planning your Learning at Work Day with Skills for Life

To ensure you plan a successful Learning at Work Day with Skills for Life, you will need to go through all the usual planning steps as well as think about the specific sensitivities that are related to Skills for Life learning.

The Campaign for Learning has produced a downloadable resource pack in association with Asset Skills Sector Skills Council. The 'Skills for Life through Workplace Learning' pack will help you plan activities on Learning at Work Day, or any other day of the year.

The Move On website includes the iRoute. The iRoute is a one-stop platform to support the promotion of English and maths training opportunities through a series of short, interactive online activities.

There are a number of organisations that can give you advice on addressing literacy and numeracy issues in the workplace that will be useful for Learning at Work Day and after:

Train to Gain
To find out about Government support for training, or to arrange a visit from a skills broker, call 0845 600 9 006 or visit www.traintogain.gov.uk

Read Write Plus
The Read Write Plus website is a main source of information and advice on all aspects of implementing Skills for Life. It includes a workplace section that has information on skills issues and offers a number of sources of advice, guidance and support.

Signposting individuals to Get On
The Get On campaign encourages the millions of people in England who experience difficulties with literacy, language and numeracy, or would benefit from brushing up on these skills, to enrol on a course. The website has information for individuals including how to find courses. www.direct.gov.uk/geton
