The Learning Revolution is here!

Learning Revolution Festival

In October 2009, the Campaign for Learning supported The Learning Revolution Festival, which celebrated everything that’s great about learning for pleasure, provided by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).

The Learning Revolution Festival is part of the Learning Revolution - the government's strategy for informal adult learning. Informal adult learning covers a broad spectrum of activities – from joining a local sports team to researching something of interest online. The Learning Revolution recognises and promotes its advantages, as it is proven to benefit mental and physical wellbeing and bring communities closer together.

The Festival celebrated all kinds of informal adult learning and the difference learning makes to individuals, communities and organisations. Throughout the month, hundreds of events highlighted the wide variety of learning that's taking place. It gave peoplewho already taking part in informal learning a chance to celebrate what they enjoy and others the opportunity to try something new.

This year's Family Learning Festival, which is co-ordinated by the Campaign for Learning supported the Learning Revolution Festival in recognition of the strong links betweenfamily learning and informal adult learning.
