The Campaign for Learning will be celebrating its first 10 years with a gala dinner on 20 November at the Savoy Hotel on the Strand and a prestigious national conference on 21 November at the QEII Conference Centre, Westminster.
David Lammy, Minister for Skills and Jim Knight, Minister for Schools will be speaking at the high profile conference – The Learning Age – Are we nearly there yet? – to show their support for the work the Campaign has done over the last decade in bringing learning to the forefront of the political agenda and the public eye.
A host of other experts, including Floella Benjamin, best known for Play School and other Children’s television programmes, will be speaking on the importance of Family and Community learning. Other keynote speakers include; John Grant, co-founder St Luke's Advertising Agency and author of The Green Marketing Manifesto; and Professor Steve Higgins, University of Durham, who will be there to debate and discuss the changes that have taken place and still need to take place in the field of education and skills.
The anniversary conference, which will consider the crucial links needed to be made between workplace learning and skills, family learning, learning in schools and communities to achieve the learning age, will be an opportunity to learn from cutting edge thinkers and opinion formers and will give delegates the chance to join in debates, celebrate learning and be inspired to carry on learning for life. Delegates will also get to participate in a selection of interactive workshops of their choice on subjects including workplace learning, family learning, learning in schools, marketing learning and policy issues.
