The London School of Economics was the setting for the National launch of Family Learning Week on Friday 5 October. Speakers at the launch event were strong supporters of the Campaign and family learning including Baroness Valerie Amos, former Leader of the House of Lords; Jon Gamble, Director of Lifelong Learning at the Learning and Skills Council; Helen Milner, Managing Director of UK Online Centres; and Lianne Miller, Founder of young & pure (makers of the first natural skin care range for teenagers and sponsors of Family Learning Week). Howard Davies, LSE Director and Chairman of the Booker Prize Committee joined in the learning fun by reading the classic children’s story Moon Man to groups of the younger guests at the Family Learning Week celebrations. Other activities on the day, which bought to life the joy and excitement of family learning for Campaign staff, supporters and VIP guests, included cleansing demonstrations, jewellery making, spoon puppets, play dough and a range of pre-school fun courtesy of the LSE Nursery.
