10 LLP Challenges

It doesn’t have to be an uphill struggle to develop your place of work as a healthy and prosperous one. The key is to start small and build from there. Kick-start Live Long & Prosper in your workplace by encouraging your employees to complete the following ‘challenges’. They can be completed during the working day or during staff breaks.

  1. Discuss your Dream Retirement with your colleagues - and the skills, financial resources and physical health you think you will need to make it a reality.

  2. Log on to www.pensioncalculator.org.uk and use the online Pension Calculator tool to help you work out if you are on track for your dream retirement, or whether you need to be saving more.

  3. Complete the BBC Cashwise Quiz to find out how much you already know about personal finance in the workplace – from income tax to stakeholder pensions. Visit www.bbc.co.uk/cashwise.

  4. Confused by your payslip? Set aside twenty minutes to understand it. Visit the Resources section of the Live Long & Prosper website and download the Working out your Payslip activity.

  5. Take the ‘De-stress Workout’. Learn the art of relaxing those shoulders and the magic of alternate nostril breathing. You can download the De-stress Workout under the A–Z of activity ideas in the Resources section.

  6. Get a breath of fresh air. Find out about local walks near your place of work. Share these walking routes with your colleagues. For more information on ‘walking the way to health’, visit www.whi.org.uk.

  7. Your brain is 75% water so even slight dehydration can reduce your performance. Set a target of 8 glasses (or two litres) of water a day, and see the difference it makes.

  8. Avoid the mid-shift slump. Complete the Counter Workout to feel re-energised and fitter for work. You can access the Counter Workout from the Resources section of the site.

  9. Do you learn best by getting up and having a go, or by watching others? Find out about your preferred way of learning and taking in information by completing a short Learning Styles Questionnaire, available by emailing llp@cflearning.org.uk.

  10. Feed your mind! Challenge yourself to eating only healthy snacks that will improve your brain power and energy. You can find out more information on the best things to eat by visiting the Your Learning section of the site.
