Learning at Work Day
National Learning at Work Day 20 May 2010- it's not too late for your workplace to get involved!
On the 20 May this year, thousands of businesses across the country will be running activities to mark the biggest national celebration of workplace learning. As part of Adult Learners’ Week, the Campaign for Learning is running the annual National Learning at Work Day for the 11th year. Organisations such as WHSmith, Flybe and Legal and General Assurance Society take part in the day alongside public sector organisations including Local Authorities and NHS Trusts. Activities range from IT refreshers to Salsa dancing workshops that aim to build skills, energise employees and re-ignite a love of learning.
This year’s theme is Creating Connections to highlight the value in bringing people together to learn from each other and make use of those hidden talents, whether it’s speaking a foreign language or delivering successful presentations! Learning at Work Day is a great opportunity to show how learning and development can make a real difference to staff and businesses. Activities can be focused around the objectives of the business, having fun or ideally both! Either way, having a day dedicated to promoting and celebrating learning in any workplace can boost the morale, motivation and confidence of staff.
The Campaign for Learning offers planning guidance, downloadable activity ideas, resources such as posters and graphics, planning seminars and telephone support to help you make the most out of the day. In partnership with learning providers across the country, the Campaign can also offer special deals and competitions to organisers to help mark the Day. This year, organisations can be in with the chance of winning a visit from a top author, just by taking part in Learning at Work Day and the Reading Agency’s Six Book Challenge.
