New Media and Technology
Last year, UK Online centres reported that 1 in 4 parents don't feel confident enough to help or supervise their children online. 1 in 10 mums and dads worry their children might be missing out because their own web skills aren't up to scratch. This year UK online centres have teamed up with Campaign for Learning again to hold Get online day during Family Learning Festival. Get online day which takes place on Friday 24 October will encourage families who don’t use or have access to the internet to step into their local UK online centre and discover a whole new world through the web.
If you are already a UK online centre
As a UK online centre you will get free planning resources, goodie bags, promotional materials and access to an online game where families can compete for big prizes from laptops to camcorders. You also have the chance to enter your Get online day event into the Family Learning Week awards, which will be presented at a national conference in March, generating publicity for your centre and a cash award.
