At the Labour Party conference last year, Ed Miliband’s spoke of ‘the other 50%’ of young people who do not go to University, and announced the establishment of a taskforce, led by Professor Chris Husbands, to review the qualification system to meet the needs of both academic and vocational learners. He announced that Labour will offer young people a clear vocational route from 14, with a qualification at 16 to balance the Coalition’s EBacc, labelled the ‘TechBacc’.

We are delighted that Chris Husbands is joining us to outline the progress and challenges of his review to date, and analyse the issues in trying to ensure that all young people get a broad general education, the skills and experience they need to progress, and qualifications that prepare them well for the world of work.
