One of the four overarching ambitions of the Government’s Growth Plan is ‘to create a more educated workforce that is the most flexible in Europe’. The measures to achieve this ambition, set out in the Plan and subsequent announcements, aim to support growth by ‘creating the right conditions for businesses to succeed, removing barriers that are preventing them from performing to their full potential.’ This policy seminar will consider the role of skills in growth and assess the Government’s approach and strategies, which include the expansion of Apprenticeships and increasing employer ownership over the skills system. We are delighted that Professor Ewart Keep, an expert in skills policy and employer engagement, will join us to present his thoughts on the Government’s skills policy linked to growth. Mark Corney, Policy Advisor to the Campaign for Learning will respond. The session will be chaired by Tricia Hartley, Chief Executive of the Campaign for Learning, and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. The Campaign for Learning’s policy seminars are held under the Chatham House Rule to facilitate open debate and discussion. | ||||||||
