The Labour Government is committed to creating a 'cadre of technicians' gaining Advanced Apprenticeships and Foundation Degrees, and both Conservatives and Lib Dems would re-engineer Train to Gain funding to expand apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships are critical to increasing participation by 18 in the context of raising the particpation age and reducing youth unemployment. But the fiscal deficit is placing a question mark over all adult skills and higher education funding.

We are delighted that David Way, Deputy Chief Executive of the National Apprenticeship Service will join us to consider the prospects for apprenticeships in the year ahead. The event will be faciliated by our Chair, Professor Bob Fryer . There will be plenty of time for detailed discussion through the two hour session.
