Creativity and Innovation - 99% Inspiration, 1% Perspiration?
London
07 July 2009
| Time: 9.30am - 4pm Cost: £175 plus VAT “Creativity can solve almost any problem. The creative act, the defeat of habit by originality, overcomes everything” George Lois If the above is true, the promotion of creativity in our schools, workplaces and families should be the standard, not the exception. At the very least, creative thinking fuels innovation, experimentation and is, above all, enjoyable. However, we know that didactic teaching methods in schools are still commonplace; “disciplined” working is the norm in many workplaces; and families spend more time than ever in front of the T.V. Is our creativity being constrained? Is this hampering our ability to think “outside of the box”, to be problem-solvers and forward thinkers? Even if creativity is encouraged, can you learn to be the next Picasso, or must we wait for him to be born? Creative learning and thinking is essential to development in science, technology and the arts and is integral to successful enterprise. So how do we foster our own creativity, and the creativity of those we work and learn with? This national learning forum will seek to understand: - Is creativity learnt or innate? - Does creativity fuel entrepreneurship? - Is creativity fostered enough in schools? - Do our working environments inhibit or encourage creativity? - How can we best cultivate creativity in families?
