The Government aims to drive up educational performance and reduce attainment gaps through a range of policies. These include the Academy and Free School programme to increase school autonomy, the introduction of the pupil premium, curriculum reform and raising the quality of teaching and leadership.

As more and more schools convert to Academy status and Free Schools get their first term under their belt, the Campaign for Learning is running a timely policy seminar to assess the Government’s progress to date. We are delighted that we will be joined by Conor Ryan, former education adviser to Tony Blair and David Blunkett, to evaluate the Government’s school policy in light of its objectives, as well as consider the future challenges and opportunities for schools, local authorities and other educational stakeholders.

The session will be chaired by Tricia Hartley, Chief Executive of the Campaign for Learning, and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

The Campaign for Learning’s policy seminars are held under the Chatham House Rule to facilitate open debate and discussion.
