Line Managers
Our research has found that first line managers are key to promoting and facilitating learning in the workplace and usually have responsibilities in relation to staff development. Line managers can either open doors for learners or be a barrier to progression. Yet first line managers do not always have the capacity to discharge these responsibilities effectively, needing to balance these duties with those relating to everyday operational concerns.
We have produced a guide for line managers on 'Leading on Learning' to help them understand the role they have in linking people with organisational objectives.
